Do you want to improve your English? Want to have a marvelous cultural experience? Want to get to know Canada? Want to make new friends and be a part of a Canadian family? Then you've come to the right place.

We are looking for a male Homestay guest either in university, or coming for a working Holiday. We are a friendly and musical International couple. I am Canadian and taught English in universities in Seoul, South Korea for over 19 years. My wife is a Korean-Canadian and we've been back in Canada for 6 1/2 years. We are looking for a university age student that would like to seriously improve their English and/or study in the Coquitlam area. Or a working / holiday, or person on vacation. We cook delicious food and enjoy an International menu.

This is a very quiet and safe neighborhood. Smoking is only allowed outside. We are two blocks away from Mundy Park, which is very beautiful! There are 4 buses within one block of us that go various directions, including the sky train stations, taking you to various colleges and universities. The library and sport & leisure center is a 12 min. walk away. There is a small Korean restaurant a block away. I can tutor you English for extra pay, if needed. All meal plans are possible. Koreatown is a 12 minute bus ride away. We have had a couple of guests that have been very happy with this homestay. One is returning in September! I'm a good cook of various types of international food and my wife can prepare some delicious Korean home cooking. We are a musical family (me guitar; her piano). We've travelled to 26 countries and enjoy various cultures from around the world. No drugs allowed. Moderate amounts of alcohol, only if the student is 19 or older. (My wife smokes the occasional cigarette but only outside.) We are a fun family that love life. We live on a quiet suburban street that is very safe. We also are disciplined and will make certain times conducive for studying. We have a shared bathroom. Also, we don't have a "home phone", simply our own cell phones. If you can bring your cellphone and have a carrier for it, it would work out well. Note that if you opt for the 3 meals per day plan, the weekend would have brunch and dinner. If you're hungry in the afternoon, then you may help yourself to a sandwich.

We live on the first floor of a house with lawns in the front and back, on a quiet residential street. We are both members in good standing of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and are part of the Poirier Sport and Leisure Center. We love the sauna and swimming pool and go often.

BTW, if you want English tutoring, (or piano, ukulele, or acoustic guitar) it will cost extra.
